I have been working on our family room for some time now. I just keep trying to find what makes me happy and I think I am just about there now. RP added a new coat of paint to update the look. I added a beautiful duncan phyfe sofa and victorian chairs. To finish off the look I bought a cute little antique cabinet to put between the chairs. There is nothing like antique furniture. So much character.

New Year......... A little makeover
Along with the new year comes a yearning to change a few things around the house. I will always have to stay with the victorian vintage look because that is just me but a trip to our local antique store and a few great finds and along comes a brand new look. The lace screen was just the right piece to get everything started.

Donna Downey's pan pastel 201 class
I was looking at this picture on the wall above my desk and I realized that I had not posted this on my blog. It is one of my favorite mixed media pieces. It has so much texture. This was one of a series of pan pastel classes that I took online by Donna Downey. This was my first time using the pan pastels and I am hooked. The color blends beautifully. If you are considering a class to learn about the pan pastels you should check out donna downey's online shop. All of the classes are great. I will post some pictures from the others later.

My second page for the Donna Downey Internationally Inspired class.
For my second page I used the bird stamp. I love anything that has to do with birds so this page was a total "happy place" for me. Anybody who knows me at all knows that am also a cardboard junkie so I combined the two and well what can I say. The bird I did with book text and rock candy crackle and that was totally new to me but I really like it. The patina on the cardboard and the crackle on the birdhouse came out just right today and that does not always happen. I am very happy with the way this page turned out.

New Donna Downey class: Internationally Inspired Vol 1
I haven't posted for a very long time and now I have something exciting to post about. I am taking the new Donna Downey class that has five teachers that get the same products and can use them any way that they want as long as they use them all. They can use anything they want with them and boy are they all different. I love it classes where you are given the supplies and you just do what works for you. Here is my first page. It has fiber paste, stains, ink pads, markers, and more. I have so many layers that I lost count but I really love the end result. I didn't love some of the layers but I just kept going and it all worked out.

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas.........
I just love it when it is time to put up the tree. Out comes the velvet santa ornaments, crystal bells, lace dresses, and of course the pink feather birds (which by the way are about 20 years old). So many of my decorations I have had for a long time but when I unwrap them every year it is like having them brand new all over again.
I
It is not Christmas time at our house without the lenox santas. They have been with me for quite some time now and I love them just as much as when I first got them. Simple but elegant.
